Welcome to the Sugarloaf district of SGI Buddhists

We are a centre of practising Buddhists in South Wales,  a group whose aim is to achieve happiness and improve our own lives, and the lives of others though Buddhism.

We have regular meetings in and around Abergavenny and Monmouth, where we chant, learn, and discuss how we can be happier stronger individuals that can come together and make a difference.

If you have the feeling that life is not going in the right direction, you might want to join us in our regular practice and see how the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin can help.

What we do

To find out more about what we do here in Abergavenny and Monmouthshire, South Wales and perhaps come to a meeting if you are interested, please use the contact us section, and one of us will help you.

We are a small Abergavenny, South Wales, based Buddhist centre that is part of a Buddhist organisation known as SGI ( Soka Gakkai International – meaning value-creating society) a Japanese school of Buddhism established in the 13th century by Nichiren Daishonin. We chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo daily within our own homes. We believe that by chanting and studying Buddhist teachings we can all tap into our infinite innate potential and achieve enlightenment or true wisdom. We believe that everyone can work for inner change through this Buddhist practice to develop courage, compassion and wisdom, developing themselves as fulfilled individuals with a wish to contribute to creating a more peaceful world. One of the wonderful things about SGI Buddhism is that there are no rules, no robes, no guilt. It is purely a practice for you and the effects you make will depend on the causes you create.
